A specialty pharmacy is seeking two experienced pharmacists to support patients with rare and orphan diseases. This role focuses on dispensing high-cost, specialized medications and requires expertise in navigating complex approval processes, payment assistance programs, and patient-provider communications.
Location: Chandler, AZ
Job Type: Contract (13 weeks with possible direct hire)
Shift: Monday through Friday, Day Shift
Key Responsibilities:
- Dispense rare and specialty medications accurately and efficiently in a specialty pharmacy setting
- Collaborate closely with healthcare providers and patients to facilitate drug approvals and manage treatment plans
- Assist patients in accessing financial assistance programs, grants, rebates, and other resources
- Provide high-touch clinical support ensuring understanding and adherence to therapies
- Utilize McKesson Enterprise (ERx) system for specialty pharmacy operations
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Active, clear, and good-standing Arizona pharmacist license required
- Previous experience working specifically within a designated specialty pharmacy is mandatory (retail experience alone is not sufficient)
- Expertise in specialty retail and/or specialty mail order pharmacy preferred
- Strong clinical knowledge and exceptional communication skills to effectively engage with patients and providers
- Experience with rare/orphan drugs and navigating complex approval and reimbursement processes
- Ability to manage high-touch communications and provide personalized patient care
