Pharmacy Technician in Chandler, AZ

A healthcare facility specializing in behavioral health is seeking an experienced Pharmacy Technician to provide essential support in medication management and distribution. This contract position offers an opportunity to work within a collaborative team, covering a leave of absence from ASAP through December, with the potential for extension.

Key Responsibilities:

• Refill and restock Omnicell automated medication cabinets ensuring timely availability of medications
• Maintain accurate inventory counts; rotate stock to prevent expiration and manage outdates efficiently
• Remove expired, recalled, or damaged medications to ensure safety compliance
• Conduct scheduled cycle counts and inventory audits for medication accuracy
• Fill medication cassettes, bins, and patient-specific requests with precision
• Deliver medications to nursing units in a timely manner
• Process medication returns and credits following policy guidelines
• Verify accurate packaging and labeling of medications prior to distribution
• Assist with monitoring high-alert medications and perform medication room inspections
• Prepare monthly documentation for medication area audits
• Support processing of patient own medications according to facility policies
• Monitor emergency medication kits and antidote inventory levels
• Receive 2-3 days of training with pharmacist support available at all times

Qualifications & Desired Experience:

• Active Arizona Pharmacy Technician license
• CPTB (Certified Pharmacy Technician Board) certification required
• Hospital experience with Omnicell automation (mandatory) and filling machines
• Skilled in handling medication outdates and general pharmacy technician duties
• Familiarity with Cerner order entry system is a plus but not required
• Ability to work independently and as part of a small pharmacy team

This position covers a hospital with 120 licensed beds and an average daily census of 110, supported by 2 pharmacists and 1 technician. The role focuses on behavioral health patient medication services within a dynamic environment.
