An outpatient pharmacy is seeking a skilled pharmacy technician to join their team in Chicago, IL. This role operates Monday through Friday from 9am to 5pm and offers a contract-to-hire opportunity, providing a pathway to direct hire based on performance and fit.

The ideal candidate will have at least one year of pharmacy technician experience, specifically within a hospital outpatient environment, and possess an Illinois pharmacy technician license. Familiarity with pharmacy insurance claims and proficiency using the Pioneer RX computer system are critical to success in this position.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Processing medication orders and prescriptions accurately, and appropriately packaging and dispensing pre-manufactured dosage forms.
  • Utilizing proper techniques for storage, preparation, and dispensing of medications while adhering to health system policies on cart fill, unit dose distribution, labeling, controlled substances reconciliation, and pharmaceutical purchasing.
  • Assisting pharmacists with patient, physician, and nursing education.
  • Retrieving accurate and timely drug information to support pharmacist decisions.
  • Collecting patient data to support pharmacists in optimizing pharmacotherapy, including screening for IV to oral conversion, renal dosing adjustments, allergies, and non-formulary medication use.
  • Obtaining clinical pharmacokinetic data to assist with creating safe and effective therapeutic regimens, including calculating creatinine clearance where appropriate.
