Pharmacy Technician | Cicero, Illinois

This opportunity is for a Pharmacy Technician position specializing in an outpatient pharmacy setting. The role offers a day shift schedule from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday, with a contract-to-hire structure. The successful candidate will work with the Pioneer RX computer system and contribute directly to efficient medication processing and patient care.

Key Responsibilities:

• Accurately process medication orders and prescriptions while packaging and dispensing pre-manufactured dosage forms following established safety protocols.
• Utilize systems for proper storage, preparation, and dispensing of medications, adhering to policies related to cart fill, unit dose distribution, labeling, controlled substance reconciliation, and pharmaceutical purchasing.
• Support the pharmacist in preparing educational materials for patients, physicians, and nursing staff.
• Assist in retrieving timely and precise drug information to ensure effective communication and care.
• Collect and analyze patient-specific data to help pharmacists optimize pharmacotherapy, including IV to oral conversion, renal dosing adjustments, allergy screening, and formulary compliance.
• Obtain and interpret clinical pharmacokinetic data, such as creatinine clearance calculations, to assist in the development of safe and effective medication regimens.

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 1 year of pharmacy technician experience, preferably in a hospital outpatient environment.
• Familiarity with pharmacy insurance claims processing.
• Must possess a valid Illinois pharmacy technician license.
