Pharmacy Tech - Columbus, Ohio

An experienced Pharmacy Technician is needed for a temp-to-hire opportunity in a specialty retail pharmacy setting focused on serving complex patient populations. This role requires strong communication skills, patience, and a solid understanding of commonly prescribed medications. The ideal candidate will have experience working closely with patients managing chronic conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, and multiple sclerosis.

Responsibilities:

• Accurately prepare and dispense medications for patients taking multiple daily prescriptions (typically 8-15 medications).
• Communicate effectively and compassionately with patients, many of whom have low literacy and complex health needs.
• Support a patient population primarily covered by Medicare and Medicaid, often from low-income backgrounds.
• Collaborate with pharmacists to ensure safe and efficient medication delivery.
• Utilize pharmacy software (Pioneer Rx experience preferred, but training provided).
• Maintain confidentiality and adhere to all pharmacy regulations and standards.

Qualifications:

• Previous retail and specialty pharmacy technician experience highly preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to work compassionately with patients facing advanced chronic illnesses.
• Strong knowledge of the top 200-400 common medications found in retail settings.
• Excellent patient communication skills and patience, especially with vulnerable populations.
• Resume must explicitly highlight experience working with chronic illness patients.

Schedule:

• Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM (no weekends)

This contract position begins as soon as possible, lasting approximately 13 weeks with potential to convert to a permanent role based on performance and fit.
