An established specialty retail pharmacy is seeking a knowledgeable Pharmacy Technician for a temp-to-hire opportunity in Columbus, OH. This role focuses on supporting patients with complex medication regimens, often managing 8 to 15 medications daily, requiring strong communication skills, patience, and expertise in retail pharmacy operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Accurately prepare and dispense medications to patients with chronic illnesses such as diabetes, hypertension, and multiple sclerosis.
  • Provide compassionate patient counseling, particularly for Medicare/Medicaid and low-income individuals with low literacy.
  • Utilize pharmacy software (Pioneer Rx preferred; training available) to manage prescriptions and inventory.
  • Collaborate with pharmacists to ensure patient safety and medication accuracy.
  • Maintain clear and detailed documentation of patient interactions and prescriptions.

Qualifications and Desired Experience:

  • Previous retail pharmacy technician experience is essential; specialty retail pharmacy experience is highly preferred.
  • Demonstrated strong patient communication skills, especially working with patients managing advanced chronic diseases.
  • Familiarity with the top 200-400 drugs commonly found in retail pharmacy.
  • Resume must explicitly reflect experience working with chronic illness patient populations.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment.

Schedule:

  • Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM
  • No weekend shifts

Location:

  • Columbus, Ohio
