Pharmacy Technician in Des Plaines, IL

A healthcare facility in Des Plaines, IL, is seeking a skilled Pharmacy Technician for a Contract to Hire opportunity in an outpatient pharmacy setting. This role supports pharmacists by efficiently processing medication orders, preparing prescriptions, and assisting in patient education using the Pioneer RX computer system. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

Responsibilities include:

• Processing medication orders and prescriptions accurately and safely
• Packaging and dispensing pre-manufactured dosage forms in compliance with health system policies
• Performing cart fill, unit dose distribution, controlled substance reconciliation, and inventory management
• Assisting pharmacists with patient, physician, and nursing education
• Retrieving timely and relevant drug information for pharmacist use
• Collecting patient data to support effective pharmacotherapy, including screening for IV to oral conversions, renal dosing, allergies, and non-formulary prescribing
• Obtaining clinical pharmacokinetic data such as creatinine clearance calculations to optimize medication regimens

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 1 year pharmacy technician experience
• Experience in a hospital outpatient pharmacy environment
• Proficiency with pharmacy insurance claims processing
• Valid Illinois pharmacy technician license
