Pharmacy Technician in Dunedin, FL

A pharmacy technician role is available on a 13-week contract with an immediate start or approximately 1.5-2 weeks after clearing. This position is based in Clearwater, FL, with a Monday to Friday schedule from 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM. The role is ideal for candidates with retail pharmacy experience and comfort using Microsoft Office applications, as well as handling phone communications.

Responsibilities include processing and filling prescriptions, managing inventory, handling insurance claims, and assisting with packing and shipping medications. Attention to detail and the ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment are essential.

Key Responsibilities:

• Process prescriptions, handle insurance adjudications, and resolve rejections efficiently
• Prepare, package, and label medications for pharmacist verification
• Perform data entry, maintain prescription paperwork, and communicate effectively with patients and prescribers
• Conduct daily inventory cycle counts, restock supplies, and review medication expiration dates
• Assist with medication returns, quarantines, and destruction procedures
• Cross-train across pharmacy functions to support various department needs
• Ensure compliance with HIPAA, Medicare/Medicaid, and insurance regulations

Qualifications:

• High School diploma or GED required
• PTCB certification and an active Florida pharmacy technician license
• Minimum of 2 years of pharmacy technician experience, preferably with retail background; some call center experience preferred
• Proficient with Microsoft Office and confident in phone communications
• Strong multitasking, organizational, and time management skills
• Effective communicator with patients, healthcare providers, and internal teams
