Pharmacy Technician - Elyria, Ohio

An established specialty retail pharmacy is seeking an experienced pharmacy technician for a contract-to-hire opportunity based in Elyria, OH. This role is ideal for candidates with a strong background in retail pharmacy, particularly those familiar with specialty medications and complex patient cases.

The pharmacy focuses on serving complex patients who typically take 8-15 medications daily, requiring pharmacy technicians to have excellent communication skills, patience, and a solid understanding of the top 200-400 retail medications. Experience working with patients managing advanced chronic diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, multiple sclerosis (MS), and rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is highly valued. Compassion and patience are critical when supporting a patient population that includes Medicare/Medicaid recipients and low-income individuals, many with low literacy levels.

Location: Elyria, Ohio
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM
Contract Duration: 13 weeks, with potential for conversion to permanent hire

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist pharmacists in dispensing medications accurately for complex chronic disease patients
• Provide compassionate, patient-centered communication and support
• Manage patient medication profiles, ensuring understanding and adherence
• Collaborate with healthcare providers and insurance specialists as needed

Desired Qualifications:

• Previous retail pharmacy technician experience required; specialty pharmacy experience strongly preferred
• Strong knowledge of top 200-400 retail medications
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a patient-focused approach
• Ohio Pharmacy Technician license required; PTCB certification highly preferred but not mandatory
