Pharmacy Tech | Elyria, Ohio

An established specialty retail pharmacy is seeking an experienced Pharmacy Technician for a 13-week contract with potential to transition to permanent employment. This role involves supporting patients with complex medication regimens, typically managing 8-15 medications daily, requiring both technical expertise and exceptional communication skills.

Location: Elyria, OH
Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM
Contract Type: Contract to Hire

Key Responsibilities:

• Accurately dispense medications while adhering to pharmacy protocols and safety standards
• Provide compassionate, patient-centered service to individuals often managing advanced chronic conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, multiple sclerosis, and rheumatoid arthritis
• Effectively communicate with patients who may have low literacy, ensuring understanding of medication instructions and adherence
• Assist pharmacists with inventory management and daily operational activities in a specialty retail pharmacy setting

Desired Experience and Qualifications:

• Prior experience as a retail pharmacy technician preferred; specialty retail pharmacy experience is highly desirable
• Knowledge of the top 200-400 commonly prescribed medications in retail pharmacy
• Comfortable working with Medicare/Medicaid and low-income patient populations
• Excellent patience and communication skills, especially when interacting with patients facing chronic health challenges
• Active Ohio Pharmacy Technician license required
• PTCB certification highly preferred but not mandatory
