A healthcare facility is seeking a skilled Pharmacy Technician to support their outpatient pharmacy operations in Evanston, IL. This contract-to-hire position offers a Monday to Friday schedule from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, providing a consistent daytime shift within a collaborative clinical environment. The role utilizes the Pioneer RX computer system to manage medication dispensing and related pharmacy functions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Process medication orders and prescriptions accurately, packaging and dispensing pre-manufactured dosage forms.
  • Operate systems for medication storage, preparation, and dispensing in accordance with health system policies, including cart fill, unit-dose distribution, medication labeling, controlled substances reconciliation, and purchasing.
  • Assist pharmacists with patient, physician, and nursing education efforts.
  • Retrieve timely and relevant drug information to support pharmacy services.
  • Collect patient-specific data to aid pharmacists in designing and monitoring pharmacotherapy, including screening for IV to oral conversion, renal dosing adjustments, allergies, and non-formulary prescribing.
  • Obtain and analyze clinical pharmacokinetic data, such as calculating creatinine clearance, to optimize medication regimens.

Desired Experience and Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 1 year of pharmacy technician experience, preferably in a hospital outpatient setting.
  • Familiarity with pharmacy insurance claims procedures.
  • Valid Illinois pharmacy technician license.
  • Proficiency in using Pioneer RX or similar pharmacy computer systems.
