This opportunity is ideal for a Pharmacy Technician with outpatient retail and hospital outpatient pharmacy experience seeking a contract-to-hire position in an outpatient pharmacy setting. The role focuses on supporting pharmacy operations with an emphasis on accurate medication processing, dispensing, and assisting pharmacists in clinical and educational support tasks.

Location: Evanston, IL
Schedule: Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM
Environment: Outpatient Pharmacy using Pioneer RX computer system
Job Type: Contract to Direct Hire (temp to perm)

Responsibilities:

  • Accurately process medication orders and prescriptions, and package and dispense pre-manufactured dosage forms
  • Operate within established pharmacy systems for storage, preparation, and dispensing of medications while adhering to health system policies related to cart fill, unit dose distribution, medication preparation/labeling, controlled substances reconciliation, and purchasing
  • Assist the pharmacist in preparing educational materials for patients, physicians, and nursing staff
  • Support pharmacists by retrieving accurate and timely drug information to aid clinical decision-making
  • Collect patient-specific data to aid in the assessment and monitoring of pharmacotherapy effectiveness, safety, and cost-efficiency, including screening for renal dosing adjustments, allergies, non-formulary prescribing, and IV to oral conversions
  • Obtain and calculate clinical pharmacokinetic data such as creatinine clearance to support therapeutic medication regimens

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 1 year of pharmacy technician experience
  • Experience in hospital outpatient pharmacy settings
  • Familiarity with pharmacy insurance claims processing
  • Valid Illinois Pharmacy Technician license
