This opportunity is for experienced Specialty Pharmacists to support a specialty pharmacy focusing on rare and orphan drugs for patients with uncommon diseases. The position involves direct patient and provider communication to help navigate drug approvals and financial assistance programs. Ideal candidates have a background in designated specialty retail and/or specialty mail order pharmacy environments.
Responsibilities:
- Dispense and manage high-cost, rare disease medications within a specialty pharmacy setting
- Collaborate closely with providers and patients to facilitate drug approvals and resolve insurance/payment issues
- Provide patient education and support for medication adherence and financial assistance programs, such as grants and rebates
- Utilize McKesson Enterprise (ERx) system for specialty pharmacy workflow and documentation
- Maintain compliance with all regulatory requirements and ensure accurate record-keeping
Qualifications:
- Active Arizona pharmacist license in good standing
- Proven experience working specifically in a designated specialty pharmacy (non-retail)
- Strong clinical knowledge of rare/orphan drug therapies and disease states
- Excellent communication skills for high-touch, patient-centered service
- Experience with specialty pharmacy systems, preferably McKesson Enterprise (ERx)
- Ability to assist patients and providers navigating complex insurance policies and financial assistance programs
Location: Glendale, AZ
Schedule: Monday through Friday, daytime shifts
Job Type: Contract for 13 weeks with potential for contract-to-hire or direct hire
