A specialty pharmacy is seeking two experienced pharmacists to support patients with rare and orphan diseases by managing complex medication therapies. This contract opportunity involves working with high-cost, specialty medications in a focused practice setting, providing critical support to patients and healthcare providers through every step of the drug approval and dispensing process.

Location: Glendale, AZ
Contract Duration: 13 weeks, with potential for contract-to-hire or direct hire
Schedule: Monday through Friday, daytime shift

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage dispensing and clinical oversight of rare and orphan drug therapies
  • Collaborate closely with patients and providers, facilitating drug approvals and navigating financial assistance programs such as grants, rebates, and payment support
  • Utilize McKesson Enterprise (ERx) system to perform specialty pharmacy functions
  • Provide high-touch clinical support with clear and consistent communication
  • Maintain compliance with pharmacy laws and maintain accurate documentation

Qualifications and Desired Experience:

  • Active, clear Arizona pharmacy license in good standing
  • Proven specialty pharmacy experience; candidates with retail pharmacy experience dispensing specialty drugs without designated specialty pharmacy background will not be considered
  • Experience in designated specialty retail and/or mail order pharmacies is highly preferred
  • Demonstrated knowledge in handling orphan and rare disease states
  • Excellent communication skills with a strong clinical knowledge base
  • Ability to support patients and providers navigating complex specialty drug approval and funding processes
