An opportunity is available for an experienced Retail Pharmacy Technician to join a specialty pharmacy team focused on serving complex patients managing multiple chronic conditions. This contractor-to-hire role requires a compassionate professional skilled at supporting patients with advanced chronic illnesses such as diabetes, hypertension, and multiple sclerosis.
Location: Greensburg, PA
Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM (lunch 12:30 PM to 1:00 PM)
Contract Duration: 13 weeks with possibility to convert to permanent
Responsibilities:
- Accurately dispense medications and assist pharmacists in handling specialty pharmaceuticals.
- Provide exceptional patient communication, especially to Medicare/Medicaid and low-income populations with varying literacy levels.
- Manage high-volume prescription processing while ensuring personalized patient care.
- Use pharmacy software (Pioneer Rx preferred, training available) to maintain records and support workflow.
- Collaborate with healthcare team members to enhance patient outcomes.
Qualifications / Desired Experience:
- Previous retail pharmacy technician experience strongly preferred, with specialty pharmacy experience being a significant plus.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with patients dealing with complex chronic diseases.
- Familiarity with the top 200-400 retail medications and specialty medications.
- Registration with the Pennsylvania Board of Pharmacy required; national certification (PTCB) highly preferred but not mandatory.
- Patient-centered, compassionate approach essential for working with vulnerable populations.
- Resume should explicitly highlight experience working with chronic illnesses.
