An established specialty retail pharmacy with multiple locations nationwide is seeking a skilled Pharmacy Technician to join their Greensburg, PA location on a contract-to-hire basis. This role focuses on providing exceptional pharmaceutical care to complex patients managing multiple chronic conditions, requiring a technician with strong communication skills and a deep understanding of retail pharmacy operations.
Responsibilities:
- Assist pharmacists in dispensing medications accurately for patients typically managing 8-15 medications daily.
- Communicate effectively and compassionately with Medicare/Medicaid patients, many of whom have low literacy and advanced chronic illnesses such as diabetes, hypertension, and MS.
- Utilize pharmacy software (preferably Pioneer Rx) to manage prescriptions and patient records.
- Support the pharmacy team in specialty pharmacy functions tailored to complex patient needs.
- Maintain compliance with state pharmacy board regulations and pharmacy policies.
Desired Experience & Qualifications:
- Previous experience in retail and specialty pharmacy settings is highly valued.
- Demonstrated ability to interact patient-first, especially with medically complex and low literacy populations.
- Registered with the Pennsylvania Board of Pharmacy (required).
- National certification (PTCB) is strongly preferred but not mandatory.
- Familiarity with medications commonly used in chronic disease management.
- Skills checklist and at least one retail reference emphasizing patient communication and specialty medication experience.
- Ready to start promptly.
Schedule:
- Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM
- Lunch from 12:30 PM – 1:00 PM
- No weekend shifts
