An inpatient pharmacy technician position is open at a leading pediatric hospital’s West Campus in Houston, TX. This contract role requires a detail-oriented professional skilled in sterile compounding and inpatient pharmacy operations to support medication preparation and distribution for patients ranging from newborns to adults.

Location: Houston, TX
Job Type: Contract, 13 weeks
Shift: 3:00 PM – 11:30 PM, rotating weekends

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist pharmacists with preparation, repackaging, compounding, filling, and delivery of medications
  • Handle controlled substances including procurement, record keeping, storage, and distribution
  • Accurately enter patient data (diagnosis, weight, allergies, body surface area) to ensure proper medication dosing
  • Adhere to aseptic technique and infection control protocols in sterile product preparation
  • Verify medications’ accuracy alongside the pharmacist to prevent dispensing errors
  • Manage medication inventory and stock levels in coordination with Pharmacy Support Services
  • Apply nonformulary procedures and ensure proper labeling including pharmacist checks and expiration dating

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Active Texas Pharmacy Technician license
  • National Pharmacy Technician Certification (PTCB)
  • ACPE IV sterile compounding certification
  • Minimum 2 years of recent inpatient pharmacy technician experience
