A healthcare facility in Houston, TX is seeking a skilled inpatient pharmacy technician for a 13-week contract assignment starting March 9. The position offers a rotating shift from 3:00 PM to 11:30 PM, including weekends, providing an opportunity to apply specialized pharmacy skills in a fast-paced hospital environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist pharmacists with medication preparation, compounding, repackaging, filling, and delivery tasks tailored to patients ranging from infant to adult.
  • Manage controlled substances by supporting procurement, record keeping, storage, and distribution.
  • Accurately enter critical patient information such as diagnosis, weight, allergies, and body surface area into the medication management system to ensure appropriate dosing.
  • Adhere to aseptic technique and infection control standards in sterile product preparation, including maintaining annual certification requirements.
  • Guarantee accuracy in medication preparation verified by pharmacists to prevent dispensing errors.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in batch and prescription order entry.
  • Collaborate with Pharmacy Support Services to maintain medication stocks and follow stock replacement and non-formulary procedures.
  • Obtain pharmacist approvals and apply dilution and expiration labels as required.

Qualifications and Desired Experience:

  • Current Texas pharmacy technician license
  • National certification as a pharmacy technician
  • ACPE IV sterile compounding certificate
  • Minimum of 2 years recent experience in an inpatient pharmacy setting
