An inpatient pharmacy technician position is available in Houston, TX, for a 13-week contract beginning March 9th. The shift is 3:00 PM to 11:30 PM with rotating weekends. This role supports pharmacists by assisting in medication preparation, repackaging, compounding, filling, and delivery for patients ranging from newborns to adults. Controlled substance management, including procurement, record-keeping, storage, and distribution, is also a key responsibility.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist pharmacists in verifying medication doses by accurately entering patient data such as diagnosis, weight, allergies, and body surface area.
  • Apply aseptic technique and infection control practices in sterile product preparation, including annual recertification with a minimum 90% score on related exams.
  • Ensure accuracy of medications prepared with pharmacist verification and documentation.
  • Competently handle batch, medication, and prescription order entry.
  • Coordinate with support personnel to maintain medication and supply stock, following established procedures.
  • Obtain pharmacist checks and apply appropriate labeling for dilution and expiration dating.

Qualifications and Certifications:

  • Active Texas Pharmacy Technician license.
  • National pharmacy technician certification.
  • ACPE IV sterile compounding certification.
  • Minimum of 2 years recent inpatient pharmacy experience.

This contract requires careful attention to detail, strong aseptic technique skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with pharmacists to ensure patient safety.
