Join a dynamic specialty pharmacy team dedicated to improving patient access to high-quality specialty medications. This role is based on-site in Rockville, MD, supporting specialty care clinics by enhancing the pharmacy experience for patients with complex medication needs.
As a Certified Pharmacy Technician, you will be instrumental in facilitating medication access and adherence by working closely with clinic staff, patients, and pharmacists. Your expertise will contribute to streamlining specialty medication fulfillment and financial assistance processes, ensuring patients receive their therapies promptly and affordably.
Responsibilities:
- Complete prior authorizations to secure medication coverage
- Source and coordinate financial assistance programs for patients
- Process pharmacy claims accurately and efficiently
- Coordinate medication dispensing and shipment logistics
- Serve as a liaison among patients, healthcare providers, and pharmacists
- Provide exceptional support to improve patient satisfaction and care continuity
- Assist with billing and administrative duties as needed
Desired Experience and Qualifications:
- Current Pharmacy Technician registration or licensure in Maryland
- National Pharmacy Technician Certification (CPhT) required
- Prior outpatient or retail specialty pharmacy experience preferred
- Infusion therapy experience is a plus
- Strong skills in processing claims and dispensing specialty medications
- Comfortable interacting with patients and healthcare teams both in person and via telephone
- Experience with specialty medication benefits investigation, prior authorization, and financial assistance navigation
- Proficiency with pharmacy software systems; familiarity with EMR (e.g., EPIC, Cerner, NextGen) or specialty pharmacy systems (e.g., Therigy, Asembia1, ScriptMed) is beneficial
- Familiarity with medications for autoimmune, endocrinology, oncology preferred, with willingness to learn additional therapeutic areas
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for provider correspondence and appeals
- Collaborative mindset with a professional and friendly approach

- Monday through Friday, hours to be determined
This direct hire opportunity requires a Maryland license and national certification. The position offers an engaging, collaborative environment with potential travel to client sites approximately 10-15% of the time.
