Pharmacy Technician in Independence, MO

A retail-focused Pharmacy Technician is needed for a contract-to-hire position offering approximately 32 hours per week with potential for long-term growth. This role suits candidates with recent retail pharmacy experience who thrive in a busy, patient-facing environment.

Location:

• Independence, MO (local to Kansas City area)

Schedule:

• Monday to Friday
• Rotating shifts between 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and 10:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Responsibilities:

• Deliver outstanding customer service by assisting patients both in person and over the phone, addressing medication and insurance inquiries proactively
• Accurately process prescriptions through data entry, insurance billing, and labeling within a fast-paced setting, handling roughly 150 prescriptions daily
• Support non-sterile compounding activities with provided training, adhering to safety and formula guidelines
• Collaborate with pharmacists and healthcare providers to clarify prescriptions and ensure timely medication dispensation
• Manage inventory and stock medications while maintaining organized storage of pharmacy supplies

Qualifications:

• Active Missouri Pharmacy Technician License required
• Minimum of 1 year recent retail pharmacy technician experience; candidates with primarily hospital or long-term care backgrounds are not suitable
• PTCB certification is advantageous but not mandatory
• Must exhibit a positive, determined attitude and be a strong team player
