A specialty infusion pharmacy in Alexandria, VA, is seeking an experienced Pharmacy Technician with IV certification for a Contract to Hire opportunity. This role blends patient care coordination duties with hands-on sterile compounding and pharmacy operations in a hybrid work environment. The position offers the potential for permanent placement after 2–3 months.

Key Responsibilities: Patient Care Coordination (50–70%)
- Process patient referrals and intake documentation
- Verify insurance benefits and eligibility
- Assist with prior authorizations and payer communication
- Coordinate therapy initiation and medication delivery
- Communicate effectively with providers, patients, and clinical staff
- Maintain accurate patient records and track therapy progress
Pharmacy Operations & Clean Room Support (30–50%)
- Assist with prescription processing and dispensing workflow
- Support sterile compounding preparation while maintaining USP <797> compliance standards
- Manage inventory and prepare medications as needed
- Collaborate closely with pharmacists to ensure precise order fulfillment
Qualifications:
- Active Pharmacy Technician registration/license (Virginia preferred)
- PTCB certification strongly preferred
- Prior experience in specialty pharmacy, infusion, or hospital settings
- Familiarity with prior authorization and insurance processing is advantageous
- Hands-on experience with sterile compounding and clean room environments highly preferred
- Excellent communication and organizational abilities
- Availability for immediate start
