IV Certified Pharmacy Technician in Alexandria, VA

An opportunity is available for a Pharmacy Technician skilled in patient care coordination, sterile compounding, and infusion pharmacy support. This temp-to-hire position is based in Alexandria, VA, with candidates welcome from surrounding DC and Maryland areas. The role combines responsibilities in patient care coordination (PCC) and hands-on pharmacy operations, suited for a candidate ready to start immediately and quickly integrate into a dynamic specialty infusion pharmacy environment.

Location:

Schedule:

• Hybrid workflow combining clinical coordination with clean room duties

Key Responsibilities: Patient Care Coordination (50–70%)

• Process patient referrals and intake documentation
• Verify insurance benefits and eligibility
• Assist with prior authorizations and communicate with payers
• Coordinate therapy initiation and medication delivery
• Liaise with providers, patients, and clinical staff
• Maintain patient records and track therapy progress

Pharmacy Operations and Clean Room Support (30–50%)

• Support prescription processing and dispensing workflow
• Assist with sterile compounding and maintain USP <797> compliance
• Contribute to inventory management and medication preparation
• Collaborate closely with pharmacists to ensure accurate order fulfillment

Qualifications:

• Active Pharmacy Technician registration/license (Virginia preferred)
• PTCB certification strongly preferred
• Experience in specialty, infusion, or hospital pharmacy settings preferred
• Prior authorization and insurance processing experience advantageous
• Demonstrated sterile compounding or clean room expertise highly desirable
• Excellent organizational and communication abilities
