Provide critical technical support to pharmacists in a dynamic pharmacy setting serving Southeast Alaska’s residents. This direct hire position offers the opportunity to work under the supervision of pharmacists while playing a vital role in medication preparation, inventory management, and patient assistance.

Location:

  • Sitka, AK

Schedule:

  • Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM
  • Rotating weekends

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support pharmacists by retrieving, counting, labeling medications, and maintaining robotic dispensing systems.
  • Conduct inventory, stock medications, and handle pharmaceutical orders accurately.
  • Assist customers at the pharmacy window and via telephone, managing prescription refills and providing information within scope.
  • Maintain sterile compounding areas, clean pharmacy equipment, and ensure proper documentation and compliance.
  • Monitor emergency and crash carts, refrigerator temperatures, and maintain a clean, organized pharmacy environment.

Qualifications and Desired Experience:

  • Alaska Pharmacy Technician license required at hire.
  • Certified Pharmacy Technician credential required within one year of hire.
  • Clinical Competency and High-Risk Competency assessments required within 3 months of hire and ongoing every three years.
  • 1-2 years of healthcare or customer service experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of drug names, pharmaceutical terminology, pharmacy law, and automated pharmacy equipment.
  • Skills in sterile compounding, hazardous drug handling, and dosage calculations.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with healthcare teams and respond promptly in emergencies.
