Pharmacy Technician | Lakewood, Ohio

A specialty retail pharmacy is seeking an experienced Pharmacy Technician for a 13-week contract with potential for hire, located in Lakewood, OH. This role focuses on supporting patients managing complex chronic conditions and taking multiple medications daily, requiring strong clinical knowledge and exceptional communication skills.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare, dispense, and distribute prescription medications accurately within a specialty retail pharmacy setting.
• Provide compassionate and patient-centered communication, particularly with Medicare/Medicaid and low-income patients who may have low literacy levels.
• Assist patients managing chronic diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, multiple sclerosis, and rheumatoid arthritis, ensuring medication understanding and adherence.
• Collaborate with pharmacists and healthcare providers to support optimized medication therapy.

Qualifications:

• Valid Ohio Pharmacy Technician license is required.
• PTCB certification is highly preferred but not mandatory.
• Experience in retail pharmacy required; specialty retail pharmacy experience strongly preferred.
• Comprehensive knowledge of the top 200-400 medications commonly used in retail pharmacies.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with patience and empathy for patients managing complex healthcare needs.

Schedule:

• Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
