An experienced retail pharmacy technician is sought for a critical role supporting complex patient care in a specialty retail pharmacy setting. This opportunity offers a 13-week contract with the potential to transition to permanent employment.

This specialty pharmacy serves patients managing multiple chronic conditions, with many taking between 8 and 15 medications daily. Candidates must demonstrate strong communication skills and patience, as they will regularly engage with patients requiring thoughtful explanation and support. Knowledge of the top 200-400 medications common in retail pharmacies is essential, and previous specialty retail pharmacy experience is highly preferred.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Accurately process and dispense medications for a complex patient population.
  • Provide compassionate counseling and education to patients with chronic diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, multiple sclerosis, and rheumatoid arthritis.
  • Assist patients who often have limited health literacy and belong to Medicare/Medicaid or low-income groups.
  • Collaborate with pharmacists and other healthcare professionals to ensure optimal medication management.

Qualifications:

  • Valid Ohio Pharmacy Technician license required.
  • PTCB certification highly preferred but not mandatory.
  • Experience working in retail pharmacy environments, with preference for specialty pharmacy experience.
  • Patience and strong communication skills, particularly in explaining medication regimens to patients with chronic illnesses.

  • Lakewood, OH

Schedule:

  • Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM

This contract-to-hire position allows a professional pharmacy technician to contribute to meaningful patient care while working within a collaborative specialty pharmacy team. Immediate availability is preferred.
