A pharmacy technician opportunity is available in the Los Angeles area, specifically Long Beach, CA, supporting an inpatient, acute care setting. This contract role is expected to last between 8 and 13 weeks, with the potential for extension. The facility manages 117 licensed beds with an average daily census of 44 patients, offering a focused, dynamic environment.
Responsibilities:
- Accurately compound IV medications following strict protocols
- Fill and maintain Pyxis automated dispensing systems
- Support inpatient pharmacy operations with acute care expertise
- Collaborate effectively with a team of 3 full-time pharmacists and 3 pharmacy technicians
- Adhere to dress code by wearing scrubs during shifts
Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Previous experience as a pharmacy technician in inpatient, acute care settings is essential
- Proficient in IV compounding techniques and aseptic procedures
- Familiarity with Paragon/Allscripts order entry systems
- Hands-on experience with Pyxis automation system
- Ability to work varying shifts between 7:30 AM and 8:30 PM, including weekend coverage from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Schedule/Hours:
- 40 hours per week
- Varying shifts within the 7:30 AM to 8:30 PM window
- Weekend shifts required, varying from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM
