Pharmacy Technician in Los Angeles, CA

A contract opportunity is available for a skilled Pharmacy Technician to support a healthcare facility operating with 173 licensed beds and an average daily census of 140 patients. This role requires hands-on experience in inpatient pharmacy settings, particularly with making IVs and filling Pyxis automated dispensing cabinets.

This position involves varied day and afternoon shifts, with initial coverage booked for 8 weeks and the potential to continue on a month-to-month basis. The candidate will work with the Allscripts/Paragon order entry system, supporting medication management and distribution within the hospital environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Accurately fill Pyxis automated dispensing cabinets.
• Prepare IV medications, including IV piggybacks (IVPBs) and total parenteral nutrition (TPNs).
• Deliver medications efficiently to nursing units.
• Respond promptly and professionally to telephone inquiries.
• Collaborate with pharmacy and clinical staff to ensure safe medication administration.

Qualifications:

• Current Pharmacy Technician license.
• Proven inpatient pharmacy experience, including IV preparation.
• Expertise with Pyxis automated dispensing systems is required.
• Familiarity with Allscripts/Paragon order entry systems preferred.
• Strong communication skills and attention to detail in medication handling.
