Support inpatient pharmacy operations at a healthcare facility with 173 licensed beds and an average daily census of 140. This pharmacy technician role is ideal for candidates with hands-on experience in intravenous (IV) preparation and automated dispensing cabinet management.

Position Details:

  • Location: Los Angeles, CA
  • Job Type: Contract, approximately month-to-month with an initial 8-week booking
  • Coverage Hours: Variable day and afternoon shifts
  • Order Entry System: Allscripts/Paragon
  • Site Specialty: Pyxis automated dispensing cabinets

Responsibilities:

  • Accurately fill Pyxis automated dispensing cabinets to ensure timely medication availability
  • Prepare intravenous medications, including IV bags, IV piggybacks (IVPB), and total parenteral nutrition (TPN)
  • Answer telephone inquiries to support nursing and medical staff with medication-related questions
  • Deliver medications efficiently to nursing units to maintain optimal workflow and patient care
  • Maintain compliance with pharmacy protocols and safety standards

Qualifications and Desired Experience:

  • Valid Pharmacy Technician license
  • Proven experience preparing IVs and filling Pyxis units is required
  • Background in inpatient pharmacy settings preferred
  • Familiarity with Allscripts/Paragon order entry systems a plus
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work flexible day and afternoon shifts
