This remote Pharmacy Technician role offers the opportunity to work in a dynamic environment supporting Medicare Part B medication prior authorizations and utilization management processes. The position requires a strong background in pharmacy technician duties, particularly related to prior authorization and working with the Medicare population. This is a temp-to-hire contract with a defined six-month duration.

Location: Remote (open to candidates nationwide)
Schedule:

  • Monday to Friday, 11:30 AM – 8:00 PM ET or 9:30 AM – 6:00 PM ET
  • Mandatory rotating weekends
  • No days off permitted except emergencies from 01/01/27 to 03/31/27

Responsibilities:

  • Review and process prior authorization requests following established policies and decision trees
  • Triage and enter incoming prior authorization requests from provider offices
  • Support Medicare Part B medication prior authorizations and preferred product strategies
  • Obtain clinical documentation from providers and hospitals needed for authorization reviews
  • Communicate authorization decisions and provide follow-up to providers and members
  • Assist with alternative treatment options when required
  • Provide operational support to Pharmacy Technicians, Pharmacists, and Physicians to ensure timely, accurate decisions
  • Serve as a liaison for internal teams, external providers, and operational partners
  • Support offshore clinical partners involved in utilization management pharmacy workflows
  • Interpret plan benefits and enter specialty pharmacy overrides to support claim adjudication

Qualifications:

  • Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) certification required
  • Minimum of 3 years pharmacy technician experience
  • Experience with Medicare Part B operations, preferably including utilization management, prior authorizations, medical benefits, or pharmacy help desk experience
  • Direct experience working with the Medicare population highly preferred
  • Strong computer and technology skills including proficiency with multiple systems and Google Workspace/G Suite
  • High level of attention to detail and strong organizational skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Prior utilization management and prior authorization experience strongly preferred

Additional Details:

  • All necessary equipment will be provided
  • Temp-to-hire contract duration: October 1, 2026 – March 31, 2027
