A specialty pharmacy is seeking two experienced pharmacists with a strong background in specialty pharmacy practice, particularly in handling rare and orphan drugs for patients with rare diseases. This contract position offers the potential to transition to a direct hire role after 13 weeks.

Location: Mesa, AZ
Schedule:

  • Monday through Friday
  • Day shift

Responsibilities:

  • Dispense and manage specialty medications, focusing on rare and orphan drugs
  • Assist patients and healthcare providers through the medication approval process, navigating insurance, grants, rebates, and payment programs
  • Provide high-touch communication and clinical support to patients and providers
  • Utilize McKesson Enterprise (ERx) system for specialty pharmacy operations

Desired Experience:

  • Proven specialty pharmacy experience is required; retail pharmacists without designated specialty pharmacy background will not be considered
  • Experience in specialty retail and/or specialty mail order pharmacy preferred
  • Expertise with rare/orphan diseases and associated therapies
  • Strong communication skills, clinical knowledge, and patient advocacy demonstrated through prior roles

Qualifications:

  • Active, clear, and good-standing Arizona pharmacist license
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with patients and providers
  • Experience navigating complex specialty drug approval and financial assistance processes

This opportunity is a 13-week contract with the possibility of contract-to-hire direct placement.
