A specialty pharmacy seeks two experienced pharmacists for a high-impact role supporting patients with rare and orphan diseases. Candidates must have direct experience in a designated specialty pharmacy setting—retail experience alone will not be considered. This opportunity involves working closely with providers and patients to navigate access, approval, and payment hurdles for costly, complex medications.

Location: Mesa, AZ
Type: Contract, 13 weeks with potential for contract-to-hire
Schedule: Monday to Friday, daytime hours

Key Responsibilities:

  • Dispense rare/orphan specialty drugs with accuracy and clinical expertise
  • Guide patients and healthcare providers through approval processes and reimbursement programs including grants, rebates, and assistance programs
  • Utilize McKesson Enterprise (ERx) specialty pharmacy system for medication management
  • Provide high-touch communication to address clinical and logistical needs of specialty patients
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to optimize patient access to therapy

Desired Experience and Qualifications:

  • Active Arizona pharmacist license in good standing is mandatory
  • Proven specialty pharmacy experience within a designated specialty setting (retail dispensing of specialty meds alone is insufficient)
  • Familiarity with complex disease states managed within a specialty pharmacy environment
  • Strong clinical knowledge paired with excellent communication skills
  • Ability to support rare/orphan drug therapies and related patient assistance services
