A temporary opportunity is available for an experienced Pharmacy Technician to provide critical support at a behavioral health hospital setting. This role offers hands-on experience in a specialized environment with a focus on medication management and patient safety.
Location:
- Mesa, AZ (local candidates only)
Schedule:
- Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM – 2:30 PM
- No weekend shifts required
Key Responsibilities:
- Refill and restock Omnicell dispensing cabinets to ensure medication availability
- Maintain accurate inventory counts, rotate stock, and remove expired, recalled, or damaged medications to comply with safety standards
- Perform scheduled cycle counts and conduct inventory audits
- Fill medication cassettes, bins, and patient-specific medication orders accurately
- Deliver medications promptly to nursing units and process returns and credits efficiently
- Verify correct packaging and labeling of medications prior to distribution
- Assist in monitoring high-alert medications and support medication room inspections
- Prepare monthly audit documentation related to medication storage areas
- Handle patient own medication processing according to policy
- Monitor emergency medication kits and antidote supplies to maintain readiness
- Receive 2-3 days of training with pharmacist support available at all times during coverage
Qualifications:
- Arizona Pharmacy Technician license with CPTB certification required
- Prior hospital pharmacy experience with Omnicell and filling machines is essential
- Familiarity with general pharmacy technician duties such as outdating and inventory control
- Experience with Cerner order entry system is a plus but not mandatory
- Strong attention to detail and adherence to medication safety protocols
This contract role will start as soon as possible and is expected to cover a leave of absence through December, with the possibility of extension depending on the return date.
