A unique opportunity is available for experienced Pharmacy Technicians specializing in Long Term Care to support prescription fulfillment in a dynamic pharmacy environment. This contract role offers a chance to apply your skills in medication dispensing and patient consultation while working flexible hours primarily on weekends and evenings.

Key Responsibilities:
- Accurately accept and dispense prescription medications in compliance with legal standards.
- Monitor patient medication adherence and detect over-usage patterns.
- Maintain confidential patient records and manage pharmacy files with precision.
- Provide patient counseling about medications, including proper usage, side effects, and drug interactions.
- Educate patients on medical device handling (e.g., blood pressure monitors, glucose meters).
- Support clinical services such as smoking cessation, blood pressure, and cholesterol management.
- Compound medications and prepare sterile solutions according to protocols.
- Supervise pharmacy staff including technicians and clerks.
- Keep appropriate inventory levels of pharmaceutical and medical supplies.
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, pharmacists, and other healthcare practitioners to address drug-related problems.
Desired Experience and Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a Pharmacy Technician with expertise in Long Term Care pharmacy settings.
- Strong knowledge of pharmacy regulations and medication management.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively counsel patients and coordinate with healthcare teams.
- Willingness to work on an as-needed basis including weekends and on-call evenings.
- Licensure appropriate to the location and practice (New York state pharmacy technician license preferred).
- Retail pharmacists interested in transitioning to long-term care pharmacy are encouraged to apply; on-the-job training available.
Schedule:
- 2-4 weekend shifts per month, typically 12pm to 4pm.
- 2-3 on-call evening shifts per week, 6pm to 10am.
