A dynamic opportunity is available for a Pharmacy Technician to support two hospitals in the Los Angeles area. This role requires a skilled professional comfortable floating between two sites approximately 20 miles apart, providing critical pharmacy services in inpatient settings.
Location:
- Assigned locations include hospitals in Gardena and Norwalk, CA
Position Type:
- Contract, with a duration of 8 weeks or more
Schedule/Hours:
- Variable day and afternoon shifts to meet coverage needs
Key Responsibilities:
- Preparing and filling Pyxis automated dispensing cabinets accurately and efficiently
- Compounding intravenous (IV) preparations, including IVPBs and total parenteral nutrition (TPNs)
- Delivering medications promptly to nursing units
- Handling telephone inquiries related to pharmacy operations
- Utilizing order entry systems such as Allscripts and Paragon in daily workflow
Desired Experience and Qualifications:
- Proven inpatient pharmacy technician experience is essential
- Strong expertise in making IV admixtures and filling Pyxis units
- Familiarity with automated dispensing cabinets and hospital pharmacy workflows
- Proficiency with order entry systems, particularly Allscripts and Paragon
- Ability to adapt to floating between multiple hospital locations and varying shift hours
