Pharmacy Technician in Oak Park, IL

Join a dynamic outpatient pharmacy setting seeking a skilled Pharmacy Technician to support accurate and efficient medication dispensing and patient care. This contract-to-hire opportunity offers a Monday through Friday schedule, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, using the Pioneer RX computer system—perfect for those experienced in hospital outpatient pharmacy environments looking to advance their career.

Key Responsibilities:

• Process medication orders and prescriptions accurately, ensuring correct packaging and dispensing of pre-manufactured dosage forms.
• Utilize proper techniques for storage, preparation, and dispensing of medications while adhering to health system policies for cart fill, unit dose distribution, medication preparation and labeling, controlled substances reconciliation, and pharmaceutical purchasing.
• Support pharmacists by preparing educational materials for patients, physicians, and nursing staff.
• Assist in retrieving accurate and timely drug information to aid clinical decision-making.
• Collect and evaluate patient-specific data to help pharmacists optimize pharmacotherapy, including screening for IV to oral conversions, renal dosing adjustments, allergies, and non-formulary prescribing.
• Obtain clinical pharmacokinetic data and calculate creatinine clearance for appropriate medication regimen design.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Minimum of 1 year pharmacy technician experience.
• Experience within a hospital outpatient pharmacy is strongly preferred.
• Familiarity with pharmacy insurance claims processing.
• Valid Illinois pharmacy technician license is required.

Schedule: Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM
