Pharmacy Technician in Oak Park, IL

A pharmacy technician role is available in a busy outpatient pharmacy setting, focused on supporting day-to-day medication dispensing and patient care. This position operates Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, offering a contract-to-hire opportunity with a path to direct employment. The pharmacy uses the Pioneer RX computer system to manage orders and inventory.

Responsibilities:

• Process medication orders or prescriptions accurately, packaging and dispensing pre-manufactured dosage forms.
• Utilize proper techniques in storage, preparation, and dispensing of medications in compliance with health system policies, including cart fill, unit dose distribution, medication labeling, controlled substances reconciliation, and pharmaceutical purchasing.
• Support pharmacists by preparing educational materials for patients, physicians, and nursing staff.
• Assist in retrieving timely and accurate drug information to aid in patient care.
• Collect patient-specific data to help pharmacists design, monitor, and adjust pharmacotherapy, screening for issues like IV to oral conversions, renal dosing adjustments, allergies, and non-formulary prescribing.
• Obtain clinical pharmacokinetic data to assist in creating safe and effective medication regimens, including calculating creatinine clearance when appropriate.

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 1 year of pharmacy technician experience.
• Experience working in an outpatient hospital pharmacy environment.
• Familiarity with pharmacy insurance claims processing.
• Valid Illinois Pharmacy Technician License required.
