A pharmacy technician role is available in an outpatient pharmacy setting designed for candidates with at least one year of pharmacy technician experience and hospital outpatient pharmacy exposure. This contract-to-hire position offers a Monday through Friday schedule from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., supporting a collaborative healthcare environment utilizing the Pioneer RX computer system.
Key Responsibilities:
- Accurately process medication orders and prescriptions, ensuring proper packaging and dispensing of pre-manufactured dosage forms.
- Utilize system techniques for storage, preparation, and dispensing of medicinal agents according to health system policies, including cart fill, unit dose distribution, medication labeling, controlled substances reconciliation, and inventory purchasing.
- Support pharmacists in educating patients, physicians, and nursing staff.
- Assist with retrieving precise and timely drug information as needed.
- Collect and evaluate patient-specific data to help pharmacists monitor and adjust pharmacotherapy, including screening for IV to oral conversions, renal dosing adjustments, allergies, and non-formulary prescribing.
- Obtain clinical pharmacokinetic data such as creatinine clearance calculations to aid in designing effective and safe medication regimens.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 1 year pharmacy technician experience.
- Experience in a hospital outpatient pharmacy environment.
- Proficiency with pharmacy insurance claims.
- Valid Illinois pharmacy technician license.
