This opportunity is for experienced Pharmacy Technicians seeking a flexible per diem role in a fast-paced, Level I trauma center. Located in a major metropolitan area, this county hospital serves a large and diverse patient population, offering both inpatient and outpatient pharmacy experience. The role is registry-based, ideal for candidates who desire scheduling flexibility but are available to work approximately 3 to 4 days per week.
Shift options begin as early as 6:00 AM and continue throughout the day with start times at 8:00 AM, 10:00 AM, 12:00 PM, 1:00 PM, and 3:00 PM. Each shift lasts 8.5 hours, including a 30-minute lunch break. While most weeks average around 24 hours, some may extend beyond 40 hours due to busy periods. This is a long-term assignment with ongoing availability for those interested in sustained work.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and dispense medications accurately for inpatient and outpatient departments
- Utilize EPIC and Omnicell systems for medication management and documentation
- Assist with IV medication preparation, ensuring compliance with safety standards
- Collaborate closely with pharmacists and healthcare teams in a high-acuity hospital setting
- Maintain inventory and ensure medication storage complies with hospital protocols
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Active Pharmacy Technician certification and licensure as required by state regulations
- Prior hospital pharmacy experience preferred, especially with intravenous (IV) medications
- Familiarity with EPIC electronic medical records and Omnicell dispensing systems highly valued
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to work in a demanding environment
- Ability to work flexible shifts and adapt to varying workload demands
