A fast-paced closed-door mail order pharmacy in Phoenix, AZ is seeking 4-5 Pharmacy Shipping Clerks to support prescription order fulfillment and shipment. This contract position starts ASAP and runs for 13 weeks, with potential for contract-to-hire conversion. The role involves working Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM.
The Pharmacy Shipping Clerk ensures completed prescription orders are accurately prepared, labeled, and securely packaged for timely delivery to patients. Attention to detail, organization, and maintaining patient confidentiality in a high-volume environment are essential. This position collaborates closely with pharmacy technicians, pharmacists, and operations staff to maintain efficient workflow.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare completed prescription orders for shipment, matching correct shipping labels and documentation
- Securely package medications following pharmacy and shipping protocols
- Process shipments using pharmacy and carrier systems (UPS, FedEx, USPS, etc.)
- Sort packages by carrier, shipping method, and pickup requirements
- Monitor shipping queues and prioritize orders based on carrier deadlines
- Assist with carrier pickups and ensure timely readiness of packages
- Identify and escalate any damaged packages, label errors, or shipping discrepancies
- Handle refrigerated or temperature-sensitive shipments using appropriate insulated packaging
- Follow all pharmacy policies regarding patient privacy and handling of protected health information (PHI)
- Adhere to workplace safety and company policies
Preferred Qualifications:
- “Tech in Training” license or experience strongly preferred
- Prior experience in shipping, fulfillment, warehouse, pharmacy, healthcare, or mail order environments
- Familiarity with major carrier shipping systems
- Ability to work in a high-volume production or fulfillment setting
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand, walk, and perform repetitive tasks involving packaging, labeling, and scanning
- Ability to lift and move packages weighing 5–10 pounds
- Ability to bend, reach, push, pull, and perform repetitive hand movements during shifts
