Pharmacy Technician - Phoenix, Arizona

A Pharmacy Technician position is available to support a Behavioral Health hospital setting with 120 licensed beds and an average daily census of 110. This contract role is based in Phoenix, AZ, providing essential pharmacy services Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 2:30 PM, with no weekend hours required. The assignment starts ASAP to cover a leave of absence through December, with potential for extension depending on circumstances.

Key Responsibilities:

• Refill and restock Omnicell automated medication cabinets promptly.
• Maintain accurate inventory counts and rotate stock to prevent expired medications.
• Remove expired, recalled, or damaged medications from inventory.
• Conduct scheduled cycle counts and inventory audits to ensure accuracy.
• Fill medication cassettes, bins, and patient-specific medication requests efficiently.
• Deliver medications to nursing units maintaining compliance with protocols.
• Process medication returns and credits accurately.
• Verify accurate packaging and labeling of medications before distribution.
• Support monitoring and handling of high-alert medications.
• Assist in medication room inspections and prepare monthly audit documentation.
• Manage patient own medication processing in alignment with policy.
• Monitor emergency medication kits and antidote inventory regularly.

Desired Experience and Qualifications:

• Licensed Pharmacy Technician in Arizona with CPTB certification.
• Prior hospital pharmacy technician experience, specifically with Omnicell automation systems.
• Skilled in using filling machines and managing medication out-dates.
• Familiarity with Cerner order entry system is a plus, though not required.
• Experience working in Behavioral Health settings preferred.
