Pharmacy Technician in Portsmouth, VA

A healthcare system with multiple hospitals and home infusion sites is seeking an experienced Pharmacy Technician with IV/Infusion expertise for a contract-to-hire opportunity. This role supports the growth of their home infusion service line and is based in Portsmouth, VA.

Schedule:

• Monday through Friday, day shift

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare IVs, TPNs, and other sterile compounded medications under licensed pharmacist supervision
• Maintain strict quality assurance in compliance with departmental and legal standards
• Assist in training new pharmacy technicians as needed
• Engage in clinical initiatives aimed at enhancing patient care
• Perform additional sterile compounding and pharmacy technical duties as assigned

Qualifications and Experience:

• Minimum of 2 years’ experience with IV/infusion pharmacy, including TPNs and antibiotics
• Home infusion experience strongly preferred, inpatient IV experience will also be considered
• Valid VA Pharmacy Technician license and national certification required
• Familiarity with EPIC system preferred

This position offers a 13-week initial contract with potential to convert to permanent employment. Ideal candidates will demonstrate attention to detail in sterile compounding and a commitment to patient safety.
