Pharmacy Tech | Portsmouth, Virginia

An opportunity is available for a skilled Pharmacy Technician specializing in IV/Infusion services to support a growing home infusion service line within a prominent healthcare system known for its comprehensive care network, including multiple hospitals and home infusion sites across Virginia and North Carolina.

This role offers a contract-to-hire arrangement, starting immediately and extending for approximately 13 weeks, with a standard Monday through Friday day shift schedule.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare IVs, Total Parenteral Nutrition (TPNs), and other sterile compounded medications under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
• Maintain rigorous quality assurance standards in compliance with departmental protocols and legal regulations.
• Potentially provide training to new pharmacy technician staff.
• Engage in clinical initiatives aimed at enhancing patient care.
• Perform additional sterile compounding and pharmacy technician tasks as assigned.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Minimum of 2 years’ experience in IV/infusion pharmacy technician duties, including preparation of TPNs and antibiotics; inpatient IV experience is acceptable, though home infusion experience is highly preferred.
• Current Virginia pharmacy technician license.
• National pharmacy technician certification.
• Proficiency with EPIC pharmacy management system.
