Pharmacy Technician - Roanoke, VA

A Certified Pharmacy Technician role is available in an office-based pharmacy setting located in Roanoke, VA. This contract opportunity lasts for 13 weeks with potential for extension or possible temp-to-hire. The schedule is Monday through Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., offering a consistent weekday routine. The anticipated start date is approximately two weeks after the job offer.

Key Responsibilities:

• Process prescriptions efficiently, including insurance adjudications and resolving rejections.
• Prepare, package, and accurately label medications for pharmacist verification.
• Perform data entry, manage prescription paperwork, and maintain communication with patients and prescribers.
• Maintain precise inventory counts through daily cycle counts, restocking, and expiration reviews.
• Assist with medication returns, quarantines, and destruction protocols.
• Cross-train in various pharmacy functions and support overall department operations as needed.
• Ensure compliance with HIPAA, Medicare/Medicaid, and insurance regulations at all times.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Must hold a current registration as a pharmacy technician in the State of Virginia.
• National certification required from PTCB, NHA, or Excpt.
• Minimum of 2+ years recent pharmacy technician experience in retail, closed-door, mail order, or long-term care settings (hospital background not accepted).
