Pharmacy Technician in Rockville, MD

A Specialty Certified Pharmacy Technician position is available on-site in Rockville, MD, supporting specialty pharmacy operations in collaboration with specialty care clinics. This direct hire role focuses on making specialty medications more accessible and affordable for patients through hands-on pharmacy and administrative support.

Responsibilities:

• Complete prior authorizations and assist with billing processes
• Source financial assistance programs to support patients
• Process pharmacy claims accurately and efficiently
• Coordinate medication dispensing and shipping logistics
• Serve as a liaison between patients, providers, and pharmacists to improve overall experience
• Provide administrative support and assist in developing workflows within a growing specialty pharmacy environment
• Communicate professionally and collaboratively with providers and clients, including drafting appeal letters to secure medication coverage

Qualifications & Desired Experience:

• Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) with current registration/licensure in Maryland
• National Pharmacy Technician Certification required
• Prior outpatient or retail specialty pharmacy experience is essential; infusion experience is a plus
• Skilled in specialty medication benefits investigation, prior authorization, and financial assistance navigation
• Familiarity with specialty medications, including autoimmune, endocrinology, and oncology therapies
• Experience with pharmacy software systems preferred; knowledge of EMR platforms (EPIC, Cerner, NextGen) or specialty pharmacy systems (Therigy, Asembia1, ScriptMed) is advantageous
• Strong professional communication skills, both verbal and written
• Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team
• Willingness to travel to client sites occasionally (approximately 10-15%)
