This opportunity is for a Long Term Care Pharmacy Technician position based in San Antonio, Texas, with a contract starting March 2, 2026. The role requires a valid Texas Pharmacy Technician license and offers a shift from 1:30 pm to 10:00 pm.
Key Responsibilities:
- Medication Preparation: Accurately read prescriptions, calculate dosages, measure, mix, count, and label medications to support pharmacists in dispensing.
- Dispensing & Documentation: Dispense medications, process insurance claims, maintain patient profiles, and organize prescription filing.
- Inventory Management: Monitor stock levels, enter orders, manage stock rotation, and order necessary supplies to ensure uninterrupted pharmacy operations.
- Workflow Support: Oversee daily pharmacy workflow including opening and closing duties to guarantee timely service.
- Customer & Team Communication: Communicate clearly and professionally with patients, clinicians, and internal pharmacy staff; assist in medication awareness and education.
- Compliance & Quality: Follow quality checklists and safety standards diligently while maintaining a clean and organized work environment.
- Specialized Tasks (if applicable): Operate dispensing machines or robotics, assist with IV room functions, and compound sterile or non-sterile preparations.
Desired Experience and Qualifications:
- Valid Texas Pharmacy Technician license.
- Proficiency in medication preparation and dispensing processes.
- Experience with insurance claim processing and patient profile management.
- Strong organizational skills for inventory and workflow management.
- Effective communication skills suited for patient and team interaction.
- Familiarity with regulatory compliance and quality assurance in pharmacy settings.
- Ability to operate automated dispensing equipment and perform compounding tasks is a plus.
