This Long Term Care Pharmacy Technician role in San Antonio, Texas offers an opportunity to apply your pharmacy technician skills in a dynamic healthcare setting. The position is contract-based with a shift from 1:30 pm to 10:00 pm beginning March 2, 2026. A valid Texas pharmacy technician license is required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare medications by accurately reading prescriptions, calculating dosages, measuring, mixing, counting, and labeling for pharmacist dispensing.
- Dispense medications, process insurance claims, maintain patient profiles, and file prescriptions to ensure smooth pharmacy operations.
- Manage inventory through stock tracking, order entry, stock rotation, and supply ordering to maintain adequate medication availability.
- Support daily pharmacy workflow including opening and closing procedures, ensuring timely and efficient service.
- Communicate professionally with patients, clinicians, and internal teams to assist with medication awareness and answer inquiries.
- Follow compliance and quality standards by adhering to safety protocols, documented checklists, and maintaining a clean work environment.
- Operate dispensing machines or robotics and support IV room operations and compounding sterile or non-sterile preparations, where applicable.
Desired Qualifications:
- Valid Texas Pharmacy Technician License.
- Experience in long-term care pharmacy settings preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Familiarity with medication preparation, dispensing protocols, and pharmacy software systems.
