Mail Order Pharmacy Technician in Scottsdale, AZ

A closed-door mail order pharmacy is seeking 4-5 Pharmacy Shipping Clerks to join their team on a contract basis. This role plays a vital part in the prescription fulfillment process by ensuring completed medication orders are accurately prepared, securely packaged, and shipped promptly to patients. Operating in a fast-paced environment, attention to detail, organization, and maintaining patient confidentiality are critical to success.

Location: Scottsdale, AZ
Job Type: Contract (13 weeks, possible contract to hire)
Schedule:

• Monday to Friday
• 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM

Responsibilities:

• Prepare completed prescription orders for shipment, verifying shipping labels and documentation for accuracy
• Securely package medications following pharmacy procedures and carrier shipping requirements
• Process shipments using pharmacy and carrier shipping systems such as UPS, FedEx, or USPS
• Sort packages based on carrier, shipping method, or pickup details; prioritize orders based on carrier cutoff times
• Assist with carrier pickups, ensuring timely readiness of packages
• Identify and escalate discrepancies such as damaged packages or incorrect labeling before shipment
• Handle refrigerated or temperature-sensitive shipments using insulated packaging and cold packs when needed
• Maintain strict adherence to pharmacy policies concerning patient privacy and protected health information (PHI)
• Follow workplace safety and company policies consistently

Desired Experience and Qualifications:

• Previous shipping, fulfillment, warehouse, pharmacy, healthcare, or mail order experience preferred
• Familiarity with carrier shipping systems (UPS, FedEx, USPS)
• Experience working in a high-volume production or fulfillment environment is a plus
• Prefer candidates with a "Tech in Training" license or pharmacy technician experience; if not licensed, relevant shipping or warehouse experience is required

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
• Perform repetitive packaging, labeling, and scanning tasks
• Lift and move packages up to 5-10 pounds
• Bend, reach, push, pull, and perform repetitive hand movements throughout the day
