Pharmacy Technician in Silver Spring, MD

A specialty pharmacy management group is seeking a Certified Pharmacy Technician to join their growing team in Rockville, MD. This direct hire position offers the chance to work on-site at a specialty clinic, supporting patients and providers by making specialty medications more accessible and affordable.

Key Responsibilities:

• Complete prior authorization requests to facilitate patient access to specialty medications
• Source financial assistance programs to reduce patient costs
• Process pharmacy claims accurately and efficiently
• Coordinate medication dispensing and shipping logistics
• Serve as a liaison among patients, healthcare providers, and pharmacists to enhance the specialty pharmacy experience
• Provide administrative support and billing assistance
• Contribute to building and refining workflows in a dynamic startup environment

Desired Experience & Qualifications:

• Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) with licensure and registration as required by Maryland state regulations
• Experience in outpatient or retail specialty pharmacy settings is highly preferred
• Familiarity with specialty medication areas such as autoimmune, endocrinology, and oncology; infusion experience is a plus
• Skilled in prior authorizations, benefits investigation, and financial assistance navigation
• Strong communication skills—both verbal and written, including documentation support for medication appeals
• Comfort engaging with patients, providers, and interdisciplinary care teams in-person and by phone
• Proficiency with pharmacy software and EMR systems (e.g., EPIC, Cerner, Therigy) is advantageous
• Ability to travel 10-15% to client sites as needed
• Collaborative mindset with a professional and friendly communication style
