A 13-week contract opportunity is available for a Pharmacy Technician skilled in hospital and ambulatory pharmacy settings, located in Sitka, AK. This position requires a current Alaska Pharmacy Technician license and PTCB certification, along with a minimum of 5 years of experience. The assignment begins on March 16 and follows day shift hours using Meditech EMR.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support pharmacists by accurately retrieving and interpreting medication orders, performing pharmaceutical calculations, and entering orders for pharmacist review
  • Operate Parata and Pyxis systems proficiently to label, fill, and deliver medications to patient care areas
  • Manage inventory, including ordering, restocking, and maintaining controlled substances documentation
  • Maintain cleanliness and proper function of the IV hood and pharmacy environment, conducting scheduled sanitizations and logging hood pressures
  • Assist patients by answering prescription refill requests, triaging questions, and communicating effectively both in person and by phone
  • Monitor refrigerator temperatures and ensure crash carts are stocked with current medications
  • Document pharmacy procedures and quality assurance activities under pharmacist supervision
  • Work cooperatively with healthcare staff, prioritize tasks, and respond promptly to emergencies

Qualifications:

  • Current Alaska Pharmacy Technician license required
  • PTCB certification mandatory
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in hospital, clinic, or retail pharmacy environments
  • Proficiency in sterile compounding, hazardous drug handling, and pharmaceutical calculations
  • Ability to multitask, communicate clearly with patients and staff, and work effectively under pressure
  • Must have a flu vaccination prior to assignment start
  • Start date contingent on timely fingerprint processing after appointment scheduling
