A certified Pharmacy Technician position is available at a well-established location in Roanoke, VA, offering a 13-week contract opportunity with potential to transition to temp-to-hire. This role is ideal for pharmacy technicians with retail experience who are comfortable working in a fast-paced, detail-oriented environment and adept at using Microsoft Office tools and handling phone communications professionally.
Schedule & Location:
- Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM
- Roanoke, VA 24019
- Start date: ASAP or within 1.5-2 weeks after offer clearance
Key Responsibilities:
- Process and fill prescriptions accurately, managing insurance adjudications and resolving rejections
- Prepare, package, and label medications for pharmacist review and verification
- Perform data entry, manage prescription documentation, and communicate effectively with patients and prescribers
- Maintain inventory accuracy with daily cycle counts, restocking, and expiration date checks
- Assist with returns, quarantine of medications, and disposal processes
- Cross-train across pharmacy functions to support team needs
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA, Medicare/Medicaid, and other insurance regulations
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required
- Active PTCB certification and valid VA pharmacy technician license in good standing
- Minimum of 2 years pharmacy technician experience, preferably with retail and some call center background
- Strong multitasking ability, organizational skills, and time management
- Excellent communication skills for interacting with patients, providers, and internal teams
