Pharmacy Technician | Vinton, Virginia

A certified Pharmacy Technician is needed for a contract role based in Roanoke, VA. This opportunity offers a 13-week assignment with a possibility for extension or conversion to a permanent position. The setting is office-based, with a Monday through Friday schedule from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm. The anticipated start date is approximately two weeks after the job offer.

Key Responsibilities:

• Process prescriptions efficiently, including insurance adjudications and resolving rejections.
• Prepare, package, and label medications for pharmacist verification.
• Perform accurate data entry and manage prescription paperwork.
• Communicate professionally with patients and prescribers.
• Maintain inventory accuracy through daily cycle counts, restocking, and expiration monitoring.
• Assist with medication returns, quarantines, and destruction as required.
• Cross-train to support various pharmacy functions and departmental needs.
• Ensure compliance with HIPAA, Medicare/Medicaid, and insurance regulations.

Qualifications:

• Submit highest level of education on resume (e.g., HS, GED, Bachelor’s).
• Must hold current Virginia State Registered Pharmacy Technician license.
• National certification required (PTCB, NHA, or ExCPT accepted).
• Minimum of 2 years recent pharmacy technician experience; experience in retail, closed door, mail order, or long-term care settings required (hospital experience not accepted).
• Must be local to the area.
