This pharmacy technician role supports the pharmacist in delivering pharmaceutical services within a hospital pharmacy setting. The position entails assisting with medication preparation, sterile compounding, inventory management, and adherence to safety protocols. Candidates with a valid Hawaii pharmacy technician registration and a minimum of two years’ pharmacy experience are preferred. The role requires flexibility to work day shifts and weekends to meet departmental needs.

Key Responsibilities
- Assist pharmacists by preparing physician orders, including unit dosed oral, topical, reconstituted, or IV medications
- Prepare intravenous, epidural, and intrathecal solutions following sterile technique and regulatory standards
- Ensure all completed orders are reviewed by pharmacists prior to dispensing
- Maintain a clean, stocked, and safe pharmacy environment, including restocking shelves and automated dispensing machines
- Pre-pack medications as requested and remove expired stock
- Maintain crash carts and emergency medication boxes
- Deliver medications to patient care areas and respond to special requests promptly
- Adhere to safety, infection control policies, and confidentiality requirements
- Utilize proper PPE handling hazardous materials
- Maintain temperature logs and assist with narcotic pulls and inventory management
- Support nursing staff with automated dispensing system troubleshooting where needed
Qualifications
- Valid certificate of registration as a pharmacy technician issued by the Board of Pharmacy, State of Hawaii
- At least two years of pharmacy work experience in hospitals, community pharmacies, or similar medical settings
- Knowledge of sterile compounding and pharmacy safety practices
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain confidentiality
- Effective communication and organizational skills
