A sterile compounding pharmacy technician role is available in a compounding pharmacy environment requiring strict adherence to USP 797/800 standards. This contract position offers a Monday through Friday, 9am to 6pm schedule with the opportunity for direct hire. Working within a USP 797/800 cleanroom suite, the technician will perform aseptic compounding and maintain a regulatory-compliant, sterile production environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform sterile compounding using validated aseptic techniques following USP 797/800 and state/federal guidelines, ensuring high-quality sterile products
- Maintain ISO-classified cleanroom through routine cleaning, sanitization, and environmental controls while upholding patient safety protocols
- Execute accurate production activities including equipment setup, labeling, calculations, filtration, and detailed documentation
- Assist in production planning by preparing batches, staging materials, and collaborating with pharmacists and supervisors to meet daily compounding targets
- Participate in continuous improvement efforts such as root cause analysis and waste reduction to optimize workflow and quality
- Conduct quality support including visual inspections, sample handling, cleaning validation, and inventory rotation (FIFO)
- Comply fully with garbing and cleanroom behavior protocols to protect product sterility and team safety
- Communicate effectively with team members about workload, equipment, and process improvements to foster a collaborative environment
Qualifications:
- Previous experience as a sterile compounding pharmacy technician in a cleanroom setting
- Strong knowledge of sterile techniques, cleanroom operations, and aseptic behavior
- Ability to meticulously follow written compounding procedures, formulas, and batch records
- Proficient in math calculations and accuracy-focused tasks
- Comfortable wearing PPE such as masks, gowns, gloves, and sterile garb for extended periods
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills in a fast-paced production environment
- High sense of ownership and compliance with cleanroom standards
- Valid Michigan Pharmacy Technician license
- Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) or ability to obtain certification within the required timeframe
