An experienced Pharmacy Technician is needed for a contract-to-hire opportunity in a specialty retail pharmacy setting. This role focuses on supporting patients managing complex medication regimens, with an emphasis on compassionate care and strong communication skills.
Location: Washington, PA
Contract Duration: 13 weeks, with potential to transition to permanent
Schedule:
- Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM
- Lunch break 12:30 PM – 1:00 PM
- No weekends
Key Responsibilities:
- Accurately prepare and dispense medications for patients managing chronic and complex conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, and multiple sclerosis
- Provide clear, compassionate communication to a patient population that may have low health literacy, including Medicare/Medicaid and low-income individuals
- Collaborate closely with pharmacists and healthcare providers to ensure proper medication management
- Utilize Pioneer Rx software (training available if needed) to support pharmacy operations
- Maintain compliance with all regulatory requirements and pharmacy protocols
Qualifications and Experience:
- Previous experience as a retail or specialty pharmacy technician is highly preferred, particularly with chronic illness patient populations
- Demonstrated strong patient communication and interpersonal skills, especially with patients in advanced stages of chronic diseases
- Experience with specialty medications is a significant advantage
- PA Board of Pharmacy registration required; national certification (PTCB) is highly preferred but not mandatory
