An established specialty retail pharmacy is seeking a skilled Pharmacy Technician to support their Westerville, OH location on a contract basis with potential for contract-to-hire. This role is ideal for someone with retail and specialty pharmacy experience who thrives in patient-centered environments managing complex medication regimens.
This pharmacy focuses on serving patients with multiple chronic conditions who typically take 8-15 medications daily. Candidates must demonstrate strong communication skills, patience, and a thorough knowledge of the top 200-400 medications commonly dispensed in retail settings. Experience working with chronic illnesses such as diabetes, hypertension, and multiple sclerosis is highly valued, as the patient population primarily includes Medicare and Medicaid recipients with low literacy rates requiring compassionate care.
Location: Westerville, OH
Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM — no weekends
Duration: Immediate start, 8-week contract with possible contract-to-hire
Key Responsibilities:
- Accurately prepare and dispense medications to complex patient cases
- Communicate effectively with patients managing chronic diseases, ensuring clarity and understanding
- Use the Pioneer Rx software system (training available for those new to it)
- Provide empathetic support to a low-income patient population with varying literacy levels
- Collaborate closely with pharmacists and healthcare providers to optimize patient outcomes
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Previous retail pharmacy technician experience; specialty pharmacy exposure highly preferred
- Proven ability to work compassionately with patients dealing with chronic illnesses
- Strong knowledge of commonly prescribed medications and pharmacy protocols
- Clear, patient-focused communication skills
- Ability to work Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM
