Pharmacy Technician in Whittier, CA

An opportunity is available for a Travel Night Pharmacy Technician to support pharmacy operations in Gardena, CA. This role requires a dedicated professional experienced in inpatient pharmacy environments, particularly skilled in IV preparation and Pyxis automated dispensing cabinet management.

Position Details:

• Schedule: 5 days on, 5 days off
• Shift: Night hours from 9:00 PM to 7:30 AM (10-hour shifts)
• Duration: 8 to 13 weeks
• Licensed beds: 173
• Average daily census: 140

Key Responsibilities:

• Accurately fill and manage Pyxis automated dispensing cabinets
• Prepare intravenous solutions including IV medications, IV piggybacks (IVPBs), and total parenteral nutrition (TPNs)
• Respond promptly to phone calls and medication requests from nursing units
• Deliver medications to patient care areas in a timely manner
• Utilize Allscripts/Paragon order entry system for medication processing and documentation

Qualifications and Desired Experience:

• Proven inpatient pharmacy technician experience
• Competency in IV preparation and sterile compounding
• Familiarity with Pyxis automated dispensing systems
• Experience with Allscripts or Paragon order entry systems is essential
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently during night shifts
