A travel contract opportunity is available for a Staff Pharmacist to provide comprehensive pharmaceutical services in a rural Northern California hospital setting. This role involves working under the direction of the Retail Pharmacy Manager to ensure safe and effective medication management and compliance with all regulatory standards.

Duration: 8 weeks
Schedule:

  • 8-hour day shifts
  • Monday through Friday

Full travel package provided, including housing, meals, and mileage reimbursement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Compound and dispense prescribed medications accurately and safely
  • Review and verify prescriptions for accuracy and appropriateness
  • Supervise pharmacy technicians in preparation and labeling of pharmaceuticals
  • Counsel patients regarding drug interactions, side effects, and proper medication use
  • Maintain quality assurance procedures, secure controlled substances, and manage hazardous waste disposal
  • Document patient data, medication information, and inventory details efficiently
  • Manage third-party prescription systems and quickly resolve any rejections
  • Report prescription errors promptly and follow medication incident protocols
  • Collaborate with physicians and healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient care
  • Keep pharmacy policies and procedures current and enforce compliance
  • Optimize retail pharmacy sales while controlling expenses
  • Train pharmacy interns and technicians on regulatory and practice standards

Required Qualifications:

  • Active California Pharmacist License in good standing
  • Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy or PharmD from an ACPE-accredited institution
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local retail pharmacy laws and regulations
  • Excellent interpersonal, problem-solving, and communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a healthcare environment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • PharmD degree preferred
  • Retail pharmacy experience preferred
  • Experience in rural or critical access hospital pharmacy highly desirable
