A pharmacy opportunity is available for a Staff Pharmacist on a 13-week contract with potential for contract-to-hire based on performance. This role requires a licensed pharmacist in Colorado to work in Aurora, CO, with flexibility to cover day and evening shifts beginning as early as 7 a.m. and ending as late as 11 p.m., including rotating weekends. Candidates ready to start immediately are encouraged, as client contract processes may take time.
Key Responsibilities:
- Accept and accurately dispense prescription medications
- Monitor patient compliance and detect over-usage patterns
- Ensure medication supply adheres to legal standards
- Verify that prescribed medications are appropriate for patients
- Maintain detailed, confidential patient records and pharmacy files
- Counsel patients on medication usage, possible side effects, and answer questions
- Provide advice on prescription and over-the-counter medications, including dosage, storage, and drug interactions
- Deliver patient services such as smoking cessation, blood pressure checks, and cholesterol management
- Educate patients on proper use of medical devices (e.g., blood pressure monitors, glucose meters)
- Compound medications and prepare sterile solutions according to protocols
- Supervise pharmacy staff including technicians and clerks
- Manage inventory of pharmaceutical and medical supplies
- Identify drug-related patient issues and collaborate effectively with healthcare providers
Qualifications:
- Active pharmacist license in Colorado (license must be in-hand)
- Retail pharmacy experience welcomed; training available for retail pharmacists transitioning into the role
- Ability to work a flexible schedule including rotating weekend shifts
