A healthcare facility in Aurora, CO is seeking a dedicated Staff Pharmacist for a 13-week contract role, with the possibility to transition to a permanent position based on performance. This opportunity requires flexibility to work days and evenings, including rotating weekends, with shifts beginning as early as 7 a.m. and ending as late as 11 p.m.
Key Responsibilities:
- Accurately accept and dispense prescription medications in compliance with legal standards.
- Monitor patient medication adherence and identify patterns of over-usage.
- Ensure all prescribed medicines are appropriate and safe for patients.
- Maintain confidential and accurate patient records and pharmacy files.
- Counsel patients regarding medication usage, potential side effects, and answer related questions.
- Provide consultations on prescription and non-prescription medications, including guidance on storage, dosage, and drug interactions.
- Deliver patient services such as smoking cessation support, blood pressure measurement, and cholesterol management.
- Educate patients on the proper use and handling of medical devices like blood pressure monitors and glucose meters.
- Compound medications and prepare sterile solutions following established procedures.
- Supervise pharmacy staff including technicians and clerks to ensure smooth operations.
- Maintain appropriate inventory levels of pharmaceutical and medical supplies.
- Collaborate effectively with healthcare practitioners to identify and resolve drug-related issues.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Current Colorado pharmacist license in-hand.
- Retail pharmacy experience is welcome; training will be provided if needed.
- Ability to work flexible shifts, including early mornings, late evenings, and weekends.
- Strong communication skills and a patient-focused approach.
